The Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Baguio City Council under the leadership of the Council Scout Executive Mr. Ramon E. Jacinto organized a basic training course for Field Study (FS) students last August 10, 2023. This training course focuses on leadership, character building, and community service. Held at the University of the Cordilleras – Auditorium, this event was designed to impart critical skills that FS students can carry forward into their educational and professional careers. With an emphasis on the core values of scouting, the training sought to inspire students to embrace a commitment to service, resilience, and teamwork.
The training kicked off with a series of activities aimed at developing essential leadership skills. Students participated in exercises on effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving, each guided by experienced scout leaders and facilitators. Through these hands-on sessions, students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, work collaboratively, and hone their ability to lead in diverse situations.

A significant part of the workshop focused on the core values of the scouting movement: integrity, responsibility, respect, and service. Facilitators led discussions on the importance of these values in both personal and professional settings. This highlights how scouting forms the backbone of effective and ethical leadership.
The training also provided an excellent opportunity for FS students to connect with their peers and mentors. Through team-based activities, group discussions, and open forums, students built a network of like-minded individuals committed to personal growth and social responsibility. This network will not only support them during their Field Study programs but also as they embark on future professional journeys.
As the training concluded, students left with new skills, insights, and a renewed sense of purpose. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and were motivated to carry these lessons into their future roles.
