CTE Students Initiate a Seminar on Local Color Writing

The College of Teacher Education students initiated a seminar entitled “Beyond Local Color Writing: Initiating a Cordillera Style Guide” on October 25, 2023. The seminar was attended by second year English major students who were currently taking Survey of Philippine Literature as one of their major courses. The aim of the seminar is to enable the students in writing literary pieces with a focus on local color themes.

Ms. Heather Ann F. Pulido, a Carlos Palanca awardee, was invited to share her experiences and expertise as a Cordilleran writer who focuses on local color writing. She shared a lecture on the history of local color movement, elements of indigenous writing style, and style guide in Cordilleran writing. She inspired the students to write and publish their own literary pieces. She also encouraged the students to appreciate local literature.
