The University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Teacher Education (CTE) proudly marked a historic milestone with its first Pinning and Coating Ceremony last December 5, 2024. The event, held at the UC Theater, celebrated the transition of education students from academic learning to hands-on teaching practice.

The ceremony featured Atty. Paolo Raynor E. Salvosa, UC Executive Consultant, as guest speaker who highlighted the significance of the pinning and coating tradition as a rite of passage for future educators. Atty. Salvosa reminded the student-teachers of their responsibilities and the impact they will have on the lives of future students.

Over 175 student teachers participated in the ceremony, receiving their pins and coats as symbols of their readiness to embark on their teaching practicums. The event also included inspirational messages from esteemed partner institutions in private and public schools and parents who encouraged their children to embody the values of integrity, dedication, and compassion in their teaching careers.

The Pinning and Coating Ceremony marks an important step in the professional journey of UC’s future educators. By donning their coats, students are reminded of their role as torchbearers of knowledge, expected to inspire and nurture the next generation.

In a message to the attendees, CTE Dean Dr. Ramir S. Austria emphasized the University’s commitment to excellence in teacher education.
