Four exceptional students from the College of Teacher Education triumphed at the 5th Regional ASEAN Month Celebration securing top awards in the skills and talents competitions.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 282, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) holds the celebration of the ASEAN Month in honor of the regional bloc’s founding on August 8, 1967. This initiative is part of the International Affairs Service’s (IAS) Building Internationalization Competitiveness Program under its Promotion of Higher Education component. It aligns with various commitments outlined in the draft of the ASEAN Education Work Plan 2021-2025, focusing on enhancing ASEAN awareness through engaging educational activities and events. Additionally, it supports the ASEAN Plus Three Plan of Action on Education 2018 – 2025, which emphasizes cross-sectoral strategies for capacity-building, network development, and fostering exchanges among member countries.
Under the leadership of the CHED – Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Regional Director, Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr, this year’s ASEAN month celebration showcased various skills and talent competitions. These competitions play a crucial role in strengthening the skills landscape in the ASEAN region while promoting collaboration, economic growth, and cultural awareness. The participants hailed from various regions, representing both public and private higher education institutions.
In dedication to lifelong learning, the University of the Cordilleras, College of Teacher Education (UC-CTE), under the leadership of the Academic Dean, Dr. Ramir S. Austria, supported by coaches Ms. Janice A. Calugan and Ms. Tanxia Claire R. Tobias, its students proudly achieved top awards in the competition.

This recent success highlights not only the University’s commitment to excellence in education but also the leadership role that the institution plays in nurturing a social-political and nationalistic spirit.
